The politics of fear & selfishness

There's some "probablies" & it's variations in this article. Of course, Obama will get blamed when insurance companies raise their rates. Because when it comes to health care these fine folk think that profit is a better spur than any altruistic motive. What's worse: the braintrust commenting underneath. The attack on intellectuals & education, the insistence that a society can be maintained without some measure of care for each other. Look at what they write.

"You are a dunderhead.
You have no right to my money to take care of you.
That assumes I owe a debt to you. You've performed no service for me to incur such a debt, therefore I owe you nothing.
To assume otherwise is to support servitude.

Profit must ALWAYS be involved in everything we do.
Lest we all stop working, for no man will work for free.
The Soviets tried that. Mao tried that. Many other countries have, and are trying that.
Yet, it NEVER works.

I owe you nothing!"

and

"You're obviously a drone that's been drinking the leftist propaganda koolaid for a long time. Socialized medicine is and will always be nothing but enroachment on liberty and is unsustainable in the long run. Stop being so naive about big daddy government taking care of you from cradle to grave and take care of yourself. "

Of course, very few if any of these great learned scholars have read any social or political theory because those would be found in "books" & we've already witnessed the great suspicion they have of "learning."

Not to mention "caring for your neighbors."

Republicans are the party of stunted growth. It's the platform two-year-old child in the midst of an "anal phase" would promote.

My opinion, to be clear, is that there is not perfect system in and of itself. Capitalism is great but a lot of these "socialized" incidents happened when capitalism fails. We acknowledge the necessity of government participation all the time. Social security, Welfare, bank bailouts, etc. I believe somethings NEED to be socialized. Those would be areas such as health care & education. No one should profit off the misery of others. Do you really want to go to a doctor who wants to make as much money off you as he or she could? Or the one that wants to ease your pain?

  1. Maybe we should start considering health & education as part of our society's infrastructure instead of independent markets.
